Get to know me,

I promise I won't bite

Hello, my name is Jemma I am 22 years young (in pink) and I have had a very interesting two years since leaving university. After leaving my job at as a junior graphic designer in Carlisle and  moving to London to live on a canal boat I worked freelance in my spare time on projects such packaging design for the Eden River Brew Co and illustrative work for local schools. However, after a strange turn of events and an explosion on my boat I was forced to leave my floating home. After some time in hotels and a short stint boarding in a convent, I decided to move to France and work as a chalet host enjoying the slopes in my spare time. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 my ski season was cut short and I am now searching to continue my Graphic Design career in London.

Adobe Skills

I am always updating my skills within Adobe Suite and I am willing to learn any other software needed for a new job or project. If there is a skill you think is missing please let me know.

Confident

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign

Familiar

Adobe Animate, Adobe After Affects, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Muse

Communication

Growing up with dyslexia and often finding that the people around me communicate and learn in ways I don't has forced me to push myself to find other methods of thinking when it comes to communication. I find that drawing my ideas works best for me and even though that may not have been aloud in my GCSE history class Im am glad it is seen as a general practice in Graphic Design.

During my time at university I mentored other students to strengthen their ability to show their work process and manage deadlines. Often finding that when they could communicate their ideas it was much easier for them to develop and refine them.

Teamwork

When I first started working in teams on design projects I must admit I hated it. I take a-lot of pride in the work I create and if others were less interested it would drive me mad.

I always found my self doing extra work and spending lots of my time hyping up the team to get excited about the projects. Even though this may have been a pain at the time I feel I have walked away with a wealth of knowledge on how to lead a team plus through trial and error how to get others as excited about design as I do. I also found out what it means to be a bad team member and thus do all I can to avoid that.
